Dark Angel is the second book in John Sandford’s Letty Davenport series. Letty is the adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport, long-time protagonist in the Prey series. Letty seems to have an even quicker trigger finger than her father.
Computer hackers will do just about anything for the right price. That is the basis of this book. These particular hackers have agreed to disrupt train shipments of supplies to the Russians who are gearing up to attack Ukraine.
Letty’s assignment is to protect said hackers all while not letting it known that the U.S. agents are supporting these known criminals. She and her partner, National Security Agency computer specialist Rod Baxter, seek to hook up with Ordinary People, a group of computer hackers.
Along the way, Letty and Rod are joined by CIA operative Barbara Cartwright and John Kaiser, an investigator for Homeland Security. They hope to get close to a prominent member of Ordinary People, Craig Sovern. They also quickly realize that the Russians are hoping to prevent this sabotage to their supply train.
This is a fast-paced novel. There is plenty of action and peril. Not a bad outing to this series. Check it out and see for yourself.
